A Historical Perspective

Steve and Eileen Geil founded Geil Enterprises in 1986. With the ambitious intention to provide superior services via dedicated and reliable people, the two entrepreneurs grew the business from small-scale capabilitities to the position as one of the largest companies in Central California (based in Fresno) specializing in security and janitorial services. In fact, the company has excelled to such a great extent over the years that it was named by the Institute for Family Business as the “Large Family Business of the Year for 2003” and nominated for the “Family Business of the Year for 2009”.

With the belief that family mixes well with business, Steve and Eileen welcomed their sons, Jason soon after its inception, and Ryan in 2001.

In 2004, Sam Geil (Steve’s brother) was recruited into the business to assume the role of President vacated by Steve as he prepares to serve as Board Chairman and manage his commercial property development company. Sam’s 25 + years career included 18 years as a Senior Executive with Grundfos Pumps Corporation (Fresno and Kansas City) and 10 years in the computer industry. Sam’s charge is to develop both Ryan and Jason Geil to eventually lead the company and take Geil Enterprises to new levels of success; building on a solid foundation, which began back in 1986.

With actions and decisions guided by their values of honesty, professionalism, reliability, and fairness, they built the company’s reputation as the industry leader. To ensure the services are reflective of the company values and mission, Geil Enterprises has incorporate various processes and programs such as drug screening, DOJ background checks, an extensive interviewing process, and orientation and training programs.

This along with Geil Enterprises’ evolution from security and janitorial generalist to industry specialists has earned the respect and loyalty of many customers, which has, in turn, secured its enviable position in Central California.

CIS Security, the Central California’s largest privately owned security company, provides security personnel and processes tailor-made to fit the client’s specific needs.

In 2004, Ryan Geil was promoted to General Manager of CIS Security. Upon his promotion, CIS Security began the process of re-inventing the company from a centralized control approach to a team approach, empowering people to think and act. Additionally, many of the existing processes are being reviewed and reshaped to address the new management approach.

In 2006, Roy Hernandez was promoted to General Manager of CIS Security and has continued our strategy to expand into the Northern San Joaquin Valley market. From Modesto, CIS Security will be able to grow and service as far North as Stockton/Lodi.

CIS Security employs over 250 security officers in both Standing and Patrol services. One of the hallmark aspects of the CIS Security marketing strategies are the “Black and Green” patrol cars seen often in the Fresno/Clovis area. People often remark how frequently they see the security vehicles and easily recognize the difference between CIS Security and the competition.

CIS Security’s Mobile Patrol division is composed of trained patrol officers who are constantly prepared to respond to alarms or calls for assistance, whether the request is for a building inspection, lock-down, or employee escort.

Along with CIS Security, Geil Enterprises decided to expand into the Security and Alarm market with the creation of Valley Security and Alarm in 2002. Paul Worsley and Steve Geil were the creative masters behind this very unique security and alarm concept. Paul Worsley, former President of Valley Alarm, brings a level of experience and knowledge second to none in the security and alarm business. The focus and drive is to provide the market with the highest quality of security and alarm systems utilizing state-of-the-art equipment such as Pelco cameras.

The “Valley’s Department of Defense”, Valley Security and Alarm is the technology component of Geil Enterprises. Valley Security and Alarm provides local monitoring, service, and alarm response through its 24/7 – 365 day operations center located at the home office in Fresno, CA. Staffed by trained professionals, the operations center can response to any emergency by radio, telephone, and alarm system.

Among Valley Security and Alarm’s access control systems are electronic gate and door controls, card and proximity systems and photo identification badge systems—all of which help clients provide a secure environment for their employees and visitors.

For some clients, CCTV surveillance systems including off-site video monitoring, Internet connections, and point-of-sale recording is the optimal solution.

To protect against fire and burglaries, Valley Security and Alarm designs and installs commercial and residential alarms; offers lease or purchase options; supplies fire sprinkler monitoring; and offers “Rapid Patrol Response” by collaborating with CIS Security creating a “no false alarm charge” service to their clients. Innovation, Service, and Quality are the hallmarks behind Valley Security and Alarm.

Janitoral Inc., a member of the Geil Enterprises family is known for having the “cleanest reputation in the business”. General Manager Jason Geil has been with the company since the beginning back in 1986. Jason started as a janitor and learned the business by doing. Janitorial Inc. is now in the process of expanding into the Bakersfield and Merced markets with key accounts such as Quebecor and Cingular Wireless. In Fresno, Janitorial Inc. is proud to be a service provider to such notable organizations such as the IRS, Educational Employees Credit Union, Johanson Transportation, RL Jensen and Associates, and Baker, Peterson, and Franklin. Business partners such as these do not form without being able to deliver high quality and valued services. We value these relationships as if they were a member of our family.

Over 250 employees strong, Janitorial Inc. services the medical, industrial, commercial, and retail markets providing a cadre of services such as vacuuming, dusting, cleaning, floor maintenance, window and glass cleaning, concrete pressure washing, construction clean up, carpet cleaning, and 24-hour emergency response.

The competitive advantage for Janitorial Inc. is its people. Janitorial Inc. has some of the finest people in the Janitorial industry with hands-on experience second to none. Along with the services mentioned above, Janitorial Inc. can also provide full service equipment maintenance on all types of janitorial machinery and equipment, to once again separate Janitorial Inc. from the competition.

In 2002, Geil Enterprises took another strategic step by acquiring Valley Sanitary Supply out of Clovis, CA. Valley Sanitary Supply and Floor Maintenance was a long time provider of sanitary supplies to the janitorial supplies market.

Today, the Valley Sanitary Supply Team of experts, run a thriving business by providing expertise and knowledge to the market. “Sound Service, Sound Advice” is the Valley Sanitary Supply mantra. Valley Sanitary Supply provides custodial supplies and equipment such paper goods, soaps, cleaning supplies, auto-scrubbers, propane buffers, floor refinishing supplies and most important, technical assistance to insure the proper utilization and application to reduce time and cost.

To many of the Central Valley’s largest employers such as St. Agnes Hospital and Clovis Unified School District, Valley Sanitary Supply is a one-stop distributor for the finest in janitorial supplies and equipment.
